Abstract
539,674. Concentrating ores. MINERALS SEPARATION, Ltd. (Minerals Separation North American Corporation). March 18, 1940, No. 5001. [Classes 82 (i) and 82 (ii)] Minerals containing tin oxide and also other oxidized metalliferous minerals, particularly lead in the form of carbonate or sulphate, are treated for the separation of the tin oxide by sulphidizing the other minerals and removing them by froth flotation, the tailings thus forming a tin concentrate. In some cases part of the mineral may be sulphidized in a neutral or alkaline circuit and floated, further sulphidizing being then effected in an acid circuit followed by again floating, The sulphidizing agent may be sodium sulphide, and the operation may be effected in presence of sodium silicate.
