Abstract

223,860. Minerals Separation, Ltd., (Assignees of Keller, C. H., and Lewis, C. P.). Oct. 23, 1923, [Convention date]. Flotation processes.-A froth flotation process for concentrating ores, or separating one metalliferous constituent from another, is carried out with a mineral-frothing agent in conjunction with an alkali xanthate, preferably freshly prepared. The circuit liquor may be acid, neutral, or alkaline. A plentiful supply of air may be employed in the agitation, or in the case of 'differential flotation the air supply may be regulated. Examples are described employing cresylic acid, pine oil, napthalene dissolved in xylene, creosote, and kerosene acid sludge as frothing-agents, together with potassium or sodium xanthate.
