539,489. Chlorinated rubber. WOODS, D. E., DODD, H., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. March 11, 1940, No. 4511. [Class 70] Chlorinated rubber which gives solutions of improved colour and transparency and of diminished viscosity is prepared by dissolving impure chlorinated rubber in a lower aliphatic ketone, such as acetone or methyl ethyl ketone, allowing the solution to form layers of different turbidity and isolating chlorinated rubber from the less turbid layer. Examples are given of the treatment of chlorinated rubber containing over 60 per cent. of chlorine.
