Abstract
538,451. Concentrating ores. EVERY, C. E. (Smidth & Co. Aktieselskab, F. L.). March 13, 1940, No. 4674. Addition to 516,603. [Classes 82 (i) and 82 (ii)] In the separation of minerals from pulps of ores containing salts of alkaline earth metals, e.g. cement-making materials, by froth-flotation, fine particles are first removed by centrifugal action, and a collecting agent and an oil insoluble in water are used in the flotation process. The pulp may in some cases be separated into fractions of different particle size and the fractions treated separately. The collecting agents may be fatty acids, soaps of fatty acids, dodecylamine hydrochloride, or the like, and the water insoluble oils may be kerosene, fuel oil, soya bean oil, castor oil, tars, or the like. Modifying or depressing agents may, if required, be added with or after the other reagents. Specifications 479,872 and 479,891 are referred to.
