537,903. Waggon-tipping apparatus. NEW CONVEYOR CO., Ltd., and MURRAY, W. C. April 9, 1940, No. 6407. [Class 78 (iv)] A rotary tippler for discharging coal or other wagons comprises a rotary frame a, a lever i or a pair of levers each carrying a pivoted lateral abutment s for the wagon e and pivoted at j on the frame, a platform k pivoted at o to the lever i and provided with rails m for the wagon, and another lever t or pair of levers carrying wagonclamping means v and pivoted at u to the frame. A link or links w connect the lever t at a position near its pivot u to the lever i and a balance weight z sliding by means of rollers 2 in guides 3 on the frame is connected to the other end of the lever t by cables x, 4 passing over pulleys y, 5. In the initial position, the wagon is secured against tilting by legs p on the platform, which carry rollers q engaging the upper horizontal portion of a ramp r. The frame a is supported by rollers b and actuated by powerdriven gear wheels f engaging toothed segments g on the end rings of the frame. In operation, the rotation of the frame causes the rollers b to ride down the ramp r, tilting the wagon into engagement with the abutment s of the lever i. Through the link w, the lever t is actuated to engage the clamping bar v with the wagon and the weight z increases the clamping action of the bar as the rotation continues. In a modification, the platform k is pivoted to the frame a instead of to the lever i, the cable 4 passes over a pulley on the lever t and is secured to the frame, and the abutment s may be fixed to the lever i.
