537,805. Universal joints. HARDY, SPICER & CO., Ltd., and GREEN, T. F. May 30, 1940, No. 9465. [Class 80 (ii)] In a universal joint of the kind in which the shafts 10 are respectively articulated to two intermediate elements 11, 12 which have a sliding mortice-and-tenon engagement with each other, the intermediate elements are pivoted to the shafts by pins 14. The tenon 17 is V-shaped at its end, and the bottom of the mortice-groove is convex, being formed by three flat surfaces 13, 16. The intermediate elements are journalled on the pins 14 by needle-bearings 19.
