Abstract

537,316. Table games. LOWE, W. L. Feb. 24, 1940, No. 3485. [Class 132 (ii)] Relates to apparatus for playing a board game simulating football or the like of the kind wherein the playing area a is formed by a raised smooth surface surrounded by a sunken "touch" or gully e enclosed by an upstanding border b, the gully being adapted to trap the discs c, c<SP>1</SP>, d representing the players and ball, when the same are projected off the raised surface. According to the invention the goal devices comprise a cross piece m carried by side arms l extending across and within the gully, so as to retain the discs projected therein. Plugs may be inserted into apertures m<SP>1</SP> in the cross piece m to score the number of goals obtained. The discs are provided with annular bases to slide along the playing area, the annular bases of the goalkeepers being of greatest width. A central aperture is provided through each disc to facilitate accurate placing of the disc on the touch lines. The player discs are projected by L-shaped strikers, Fig. 3, the portion o<SP>1</SP> being normally used to strike the discs whilst the portion o<SP>2</SP> which is curved to the radius of the player discs is used when the discs are in a congested position.
