Abstract

537,272. Corsets. CLARK, D. M., and STUART, H. J. Dec. 13, 1939, No. 32173. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1938. Drawings to Specification. [Class 141] [Also in Group VIII] To control the stretch in a portion of an elastic fabric or of a garment such as a girdle, vulcanized rubber latex is applied to a portion of one face only of the fabric to form a coating thereon. The fabric ,may be knitted as described in U.S.A. Specification 2,016,168 and the elastic threads are preferably those known under the Registered Trade Mark " Lastex." The vulcanized latex may be that described in U.S.A. Specification 1,939,635 and is applied by spraying or painting. The latex deposit whilst tacky may be covered with lace or flock. The treated portions may be reinforced by applying steel stays thereto which are further treated with latex to provide a smooth surface. The latex may be applied to the inner surface of the girdle on a front panel, and at portions adjacent the wearer's thighs or adjacent the upper margin to prevent rolling.
