Abstract

536,626. Ink. INTERCHEMICAL CORPORATION. Nov. 24, 1939. No. 30769. Convention date, Dec. 8, 1938. [Class 146 (iii)] A thermo-plastic printing ink having a melting point of between 150 and 300‹F. has a vehicle composed of at least 50 per cent. by weight of a solvent wax (i.e., a resin-free animal, vegetable or mineral wax, or synthetic waxy material such as a high molecular weight alcohol or ester or a fully hydrogenerated oil or oil acid) and between 5 and 50 per cent. of a bitumen. The bitumen is preferably that known under the Registered Trade Mark " Gilsonite mixed with a bitumen having solvent action thereon, e.g. coal tar pitch, montan pitch, or petroleum pitch. The solvent wax is hydrogenated soya bean or fish oil, and montan wax may also be added. The "Gilsonite" acts as a colouring material, but other pigments preferably ground in lithographic varnish may be added. Specification 536,968 is referred to.
