Abstract
536,013. Chain fastenings. AKTIEBOLAGET TEXTILMASKINER. Aug. 4, 1939, Nos. 22674 and 22675. Convention dates, Aug. 6, 1938, and Dec. 29, 1938. [Classes 44 and 89 (ii)] A device for coupling chains, particularly of harness, comprises a member 1 formed from sheet metal bent to U-form in transverse cross section, and having members 3, 12 pivoted between the limbs at 4, 11 respectively. The pivoted members have rearwardly inclined Slots 5, 13 co-operating with slots in member 1 and substantially at right angles to its edge. In use a link is inserted ir slot 13 and member 12 is moved into the position shown in Fig. 1 where it is retained by projec. tions 15 snapping into aperture 14. A link of the other chain end to bE coupled is inserted in slot 5 and member 3 is then moved into position, Fig. 1, where it is retained by the resilient grip of member 1 with inclined surface 17 abutting against surface 16. A finger aperture 6 is provided in member 3 and member 1 is cut away as shown to expose aperture 6 in the coupled position. Alternatively, member 3 has an upstanding rib along its outside edge so that cutting away member 1 is avoided. In a modification member 12 is omitted and one chain end is permanently coupled to member 1.
