Abstract

534,733. Unsymmetrical dichlorethylene. HOWELL, W. N., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES. Ltd. Sept. 14, 1939, No. 25796. [Class 2 (iii] Unsymmetrical dichlorethylene is produced by adding 1-1-1 trichlorethane or 1-1-2-trichlorethane to excess of milk of lime maintained above the boiling-point of the dichlorethylene and preferably between 60‹C. and the boiling point of the trichlorethane. The process may be effected as batch or continuous operation. The temperature may be raised at the end of the process, for instance, to 100‹C. to expel the last portions of the product. Specification 349,872 is referred to.
