Abstract

534,630. Building-motions for spinning &c. machines. PATTERSON, J. Sept. 7, 1939, No. 25263. [Class 120 (ii)] In a spinning &c. machine the builder at each side of the machine rail is positively raised and lowered throughout its whole range of movement by identical cam or equivalent rotary mechanisms and common cam means or equivalent crank or like rotary means simultaneously controls each mechanism to vary the length of the range of movement of the rail at each side of the machine to form bobbins of. cylindrical shape with a tapered end.. As shown the lifter shaft 17a at each side of the machine is oscillated by a lever 17 connected by a rod 16 to the end of a horizontally-arranged lever 14 having a slot 13 engaging a pivot 12 on a vertical bar 10 having followers 9 engaging a heart cam 4, the two cams 4 being driven in the same direction and at the same speed of gearing from a pinion 6. The end of each bar 10 remote from the cam 4 is pivoted to a lever 11 pivoted at 11<SP>1</SP>; in the machine frame and the end of each lever 14 remote from its connection with the rod 16 is pivoted to a pivoted arm 24 having a follower 29 engaging a heart cam 26 carried by a ratchet wheel 28 actuated by a pawl 31 adjustably pivoted in an arm 11a of one of the levers 11.
