Abstract

534,409. Fixing compositions. GALLAFENT, V. (Du Pont Film Manufacturing Corporation.). Jan. 9, 1940, No. 452. [Class 98 (ii)] In dry solid acid sodium thiosulphate photographic fixing compositions containing an alkali-metal sulphite, sulphamic acid (amidosulphonic acid) is used as an acid ingredient. Potassium or chrome alum may be used as a hardening agent, and sodium acetate or boric acid may be added as buffers. The pH should be not less than 3.7, and may be from 3.8 to 4.5 with chrome alum as the hardening agent. Several formulae are given, anhydrous sodium thiosulphate and sodium sulphite being used in the packet compositions and the sulphamic acid being packed separately from the sodium thiosulphate.
