Abstract

533,532. Cable joints. LAKE, Ltd., E., and PARKER, E. E. Oct. 6, 1939, No. 27315. [Class 38 (i)] The joints of multi-core cables are insulated by wrapping each joint C1...C4 with sheet insulation and fabric D1, D2, applying to the wrapped joints shaped pieces of plastic material E, and moulding this about the joints by heat and/or pressure in a mould. The sheets D1, D2 may be of fabric-backed rubber and the joints are wrapped in pairs each sheet D1, D2 forming a figure of 8 about one pair. The material E may be rubber which is vulcanized in the mould so as to unite with the sheets D1, D2 and with the ends of the cable sheath or a wrapping thereon.
