Abstract

533,417. Electric resistance heating. STEVENS, A. H. (Reed-Prentice Corporation). Nov. 6, 1939, No. 29476. [Class 39 (iii)] Apparatus for heating formaldehyde resins or other mouldable material previous to moulding comprises a cylindrical steel block 10 forming part of the secondary circuit of a transformer and having a number of longitudinal small bore passages 20 for the material and radial slits adjacent the passages to increase the uniformity of the heating. The sides of a U-shaped copper strip 32 incorporated as the secondary of a stepdown transformer are held between the steel block and heads 14, 27 for the admission and discharge of the mouldable material.
