532,959. Vulcanizing rubber. FIRESTONE TYRE & RUBBER CO., Ltd. Aug. 3, 1939, No. 22548. Convention date, Aug. 30, 1938. [Class 70] In vulcanizing hollow rubber articles such as inner tubes for pneumatic tyre casings in vulcanizers 10, high pressure steam is passed by pipes 42 to superheating chambers 38 and 26 where it heats low pressure steam which is then led by a hose 39 into the interior of the tube to be vulcanized, while the steam used for heating is fed by an injector 49 along with fresh steam at low pressure, by the pipes 13 and 15, to heat the vulcanizers 10 and discharges into a separator 18, from whence it is returned to the pipe 13 by an injector 20. Valves 14 and 23 are operated by temperature - controlled apparatus. The steam supplied by hose 39 may be replaced by air. Means may be provided for supplying cold air to the hose 39.
