Abstract
532,805. Cleaning metals. SINGER MOTORS, Ltd., and CURRALL, R. C. July 24, 1939, No. 21405. [Class 82 (ii)] The surfaces of metal articles, particularly ferrous articles are cleaned by treating them with a mixture of ¥ lb. of sodium bisulphate to one gallon of known cleaner formed of water phosphoric acid and a small quantity of sodium bisulphate such as the known cleaners known commercially as " deoxidelte or primo-surfacer " or the material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Deoxidine." Alternatively the cleaning solution may comprise one gallon of "Deoxidine, deoxidelte or primo-surfacer," in 100 gallons of water and ¥ i lb. of sodium bisulphate. The articles are first degreased and then immersed for at least two minutes in a warm solution of the cleaner, at a temperature of about 200‹F. The articles are then washed preferably in hot water and then dried, preferably by being heated for approximately 5 minutes at a temperature of 300‹F.
