Abstract

531,659. Stoppers for bottles. CAZENAVE, F. July 28, 1939, No. 21984. [Class 125 (iii)] Safety seals for bottles and like containers consist of upper and lower parts 1, 2 secured together and cemented in the container mouth 3. The upper part 1 has a diametral slot 5 in its lower face with transverse channels 6 running from the slot 5 to the periphery, and grooves 4 in the periphery leading from the slot 5. The lower part 2 has a vertical duct 7 with an enlarged end 8 containing a ball valve 9. When the parts are cemented in the neck they are arranged so that the valve is placed at the channels 6, so that when the bottle is inverted as shown in Fig. 4, the ball 9 drops and liquid discharges through the channels 7, 6, 5, 4. The bottle cannot be refilled either in the erect position or inverted position.
