Abstract
530,032. Control systems for space discharge apparatus. FIDES GES. FUR DIE VERWALTUNG UND VERWERTUNG VON GEWERBLICHEN SCHUTZRECHTEN. June 14, 1939, No. 17443. Convention date, June 14, 1938 [Class 38 (iv)] Switching control.-To prevent the destruction of foils supporting an object in an electron microscope the condenser (focussing) coil is not energized until full operating voltage is on the electron beam. A drum controller 13 closes in sequence the circuits of the following: (1) An illuminating lamp 26, (2) a vacuum tester 10, (3) a coil 30 actuating a switch 7 for cathode heating and for the Wehnelt cylinders, (4) a motor 11 actuating an earthing rod 12 which in its lowest position permits the closure of the primary circuit of the transformer 8, (5) the primary circuit of the transformer 8, (6) the condenser coil 3. These operations are followed by the 'opening of the circuit of the lamp 26. To de-energize the microscope the controller is operated in the reverse sense.
