Abstract
529,900. Subaqueous signalling. KUNZE, W. June 10, 1939, No. 17078. [Class 118 (ii)] A subaqueous transmitter or receiver is protected from eddies &c. by a casing one part of which is thin-walled to allow the passage of sound waves while the remainder is of robust construction. The casing and transmitter &c. may be each capable of movement into and out of the hull. Figs. 1 and 2 show a stream-lined casing 2 enclosing a transmitter 3, the part 5 being of thin construction supported by the solid part 6. The thin tubular part may have low longitudinal ribs for reinforcement. In the form shown in Figs. 7 and 9, only the lowest part 15 of the casing is thin-walled and the casing and transmitter are independently retractable. The transmitter may for low speeds be projected beyond the bottom of the casing and may be . additionally supported by an abutment within the casing.
