[Class 27] A coin-controlled parking meter comprises an indicator, normally inoperative indicator reset mechanism with means for actuating same, and a coin-released brake for controlling the operation of said reset mechanism. Two clock trains are provided energized by the same spring, one of the trains moving continuously and driving in one direction only an indicator pointer 29 through a friction clutch 64, 65, and the other being started by coin action to move a flag 28 into view behind a window. The flag 28 bears a minute scale, and is shown in Fig. 2 dropped about its pivot into a concealed position. Insertion of a coin past a flared slot edge 104 allows it to fall into a holder 60 pivoted at 10, and by pressure between a fixed plate 87 and a pin 78 un a lever 71 pushes the latter to swing a brake lever 52 up free of the train fan 26. This train rotates a quadrant 63 which bears on a flange 74 on the flag and lifts same to the display position shown in Fig. 3. The quadrant has a series of tapped holes 76 into any one of which a screw 75 can be threaded. This screw bears against the pointer 29 and pushes it to a predetermined initial position on the scale on the flag 28. A tongue 68 on the pointer 29 bears beneath a ledge 69 on the flag to assist in supporting same in position. The flag raising train rotates a wheel 57 carrying a crank-pin whereby a link 58 upsets the coin-holder 60, and the link 58 contacts with a projection 84 on a spring-biassed coin-ejector 79 coupled to a clapper which strikes a bell when the ejector returns to the position shown in Fig. 2, and notifies that the device is functioning. The operating coin is visible at a window, and is passed to a container when a fresh coin is inserted.
