Abstract

528,674. Mixing-machines. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. May 12, 1939, No. 14221. Convention date, May 13, 1938. [Class 86] [Also in Group IV] Apparatus for use in precipitating organic derivatives of cellulose from solution comprises a series of intercommunicating vessels 11 ... 16, inlet, 4, 72 for introducing a solution of the cellulose derivative and a precipitating medium into a vessel 11 at one end of the series, additional inlets 73 ... 76 for introducing precipitating medium into subsequent vessels 12 ... 16, an outlet 45 in the vessel at the far end of the series for removing precipitated cellulose derivative and means for stirring and moving forward 19, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 33, 34, 36 and 38 (shown in detail in Figs. 4, 5 and 6) in the vessels, the liquid, and the precipitate. The mixture from the outlet 45 passes to a settling tank 47. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers to a process of precipitation of organic derivatives of cellulose from solution wherein the precipitant is added in stages. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
