Abstract

527,831. Treating living bodies by electrical impulses. ELLIS, E. Feb. 11, 1939, No. 4513. [Class 81 (ii)] In apparatus for treating living bodies by the application of electrical impulses, a beam of light is first passed through an electrical field and then through a grid member through which short-wave electrical impulses are passing, the beam being then directed on to the part of the body to be treated. Fig. 2 shows such an apparatus comprising an electric lamp b and reflector c, a light filter composed of coloured glasses d, e, f, a series of current-carrying wires g, and a grid member h carrying the short-wave impulses. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the light filter is dispensed with, and a current of air is passed into the end a<SP>1</SP>, and may be preheated, or heated by lamps j.
