[Class 98 (i)] A removable spool comprises a driving gear forming the last wheel in the gear train for driving the spool, and friction slipping means which co-operates with the driving gear and is removable with the spool. The spool 20, Fig. 1, may be used in a camera 10 in which a perforated film F is fed by a sprocket 35 actuated from a handle 50 and connected by gearing 44 ...47 to the driving gear 25 on the spool, the friction slip allowing for the varying diameter of the film roll as winding proceeds In one form of spool, the driving gear 25, Fig. 3 encircles a shouldered extension 26 of the spool core, and is pressed by a spring 28 against a flange 27 on said extension. The spool carries at one end a pivot pin 31 engaging an open-top bearing 32 in the camera wall, and has a pivot socket at the other end fitting upon a pivot pin 30 on the camera wall. In another form, the driving gear is rigidly connected to one of the end-discs of the spool, and a sleeve upon which the film winds as the spool turns encircles the core of the spool with a frictional grip; and this form maybe modified by rigidly connecting the driving gear to a slotted tube which the hollow core of the spool encircles with a frictional grip. In another form, the gear is rigidly connected to one of the end-discs, which is rotatable on the core and is frictionally engaged by a spring mounted on the core. In a further form, the driving gear 172, Fig. 14, has driving slots 171 in its under-surface engaged by projections 170 on a clutchmember 169 which is pressed by a spring 174 on to a washer 173 encircling an extension 168 of the spool core.
