Abstract

526,407. Laminated springs. GRIFFITHS & SONS, Ltd., W., and FROST, A. E. March 15, 1939, No. 8316. [Class 108 (iii)] The plates of a laminated spring are held to the buckle by independent means which interengage the plates and the buckle and which are adapted to be retained in position, the engagement with the plates being confined to their thickness boundaries so that the area of the plates in contact is not interfered with. Figs. 4 and 5 are plan and elevation respectively of such means c, which have one or more lugs d adapted to enter recesses in the plate edges, and a groove h in which lies a rod welded to the buckle end at top and bottom. The means c lie in channels in the buckle ends, and the lugs d may be integral or attached, e.g. by screwing. Each means c may extend over a plurality of plates, and where it covers two plates lugs d may be provided for only one plate on each side.
