Abstract

525,316. Motor vehicles. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 17, 1939, No. 5347. Convention date, Feb. 17, 1938. [Class 79 (iii)] [Also in Group XIII] A motor-vehicle and particularly a reversible locomotive driven by turbo-electric sets 13, 14 is provided with steam &c. condensers each comprising a main section 20, Fig. 2, disposed beneath the roof, and aftercooler sections 22 connected by pipes 21 to the main section and placed along the opposite sides of the vehicle, a blower 63 driven by a turbine 64, and a condensate reservoir 24. The main section includes transverse headers secured by welding to longitudinal members 43, Fig. 5, welded to flanges 44 having apertures through which external studs 47 secured to angles 45 welded to the sides of the vehicle, the weight of the headers &c. being resiliently supported through rubber discs 50 on the studs. The upper headers of the after-cooler sections are formed with projections 62 engaging in metal inserts in rubber discs 59 housed in rings 60 secured to the angles 45.
