Abstract
524,788. Deliming pelts. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. Feb. 7, 1939, No. 4073. Convention date, Feb. 7, 1938. [Class 767 A process for deliming limed pelts preliminary to tanning consists in treating them with a solution of water-soluble salts of carboxylic acids containing nitrogen and at least two organic radicals substituted by carboxyl groups in the alpha-positive to a nitrogen atom. Thus, cow pelts are limed and rinsed as usual. The pelts are then delimed by treatment with a 3 per cent. bath of the trisodium salt of nitriletriacetic acid. Other suitable salts mentioned are the tetrasodium salt of ethylene-bis-iminodiacetic acid and the trisodium salt of 1-aminobenzene-N, N-diacetic acid and ortho-carboxylic acid. Other deliming compounds may be present.
