Abstract

523,106. Heating type-casting crucibles. LINOTYPE & MACHINERY, Ltd., SCOTT, R. H., and BROWN, W. Dec. 23, 1938, No. 37411. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXV] The melting pot of a type-casting machine has main and auxiliary pot heaters 2, 3 and a throat heater 4, the last under manual control by a rheostat 5 and the two first controlled by a thermostat 6 so that when the metal has reached melting temperature the auxiliary heater 3 is cut out. Temperature is then maintained constant by a thermostat which operates on the heater 2. Should this heater fail the heater 3 automatically replaces it. Failure of any of the heaters is indicated by extinction of a signal lamp.
