Abstract
523,100. Typewriters. ROYAL TYPEWRITER CO., Inc. Dec. 22, 1938, No. 37388. Convention date, Dec. 30, 1937. [Class 100 (iv)] Keys.-For varying the touch of the type actions the anchor plate 20 to which all the type action springs 27 are attached is adjustable by a manually operable worm 41 which rotates a shaft 36 to which is eccentrically connected an arm 46 of a link 43 connected to the anchor plate 20. To the shaft 36 is attached an indicating dial 37 having a bevelled edge 38 which either extends through a trapezoidal slot in a closure plate 29, Fig. 2, fitted in an elongated opening 28 in the side frame 6 of the typewriter, or is arranged inside the frame, as shown in Fig. 8, and is visible through a window 54 formed in one side of an inwardly depressed portion 51, 52 of the frame. The shaft 36 is mounted in members 34, 35 of a bracket 33 attached to a cross-bar 12, and the worm mechanism is operated by a hand-wheel 42 arranged near the indicating-dial. A stop 49 limits the extent of rotation of the shaft 36.
