Abstract

522,309. Gas burners. RADIANT HEATING, Ltd., and DOCKING, A. Feb. 1, 1939, No. 31024/38. [Class 75 (i)] A gas burner comprises an annular gas chamber 1 closed at the upper end by porous refractory brick 7 through which the gas can escape in an annular jet, a central air tube 8, 9 having perforations above the level of the gas outlet, and an outer casing 11 provided with perforations below the level of the gas outlet. As shown, the chamber 1 is formed by screwing a hollow cylindrical casting 4 on the flange 5 of a casting 2, the gas inlet 3 communicating through an annular passage in the flange 5 and holes 6 with the chamber. The brick 7 is supported by flanges on the castings 2, 4. A hollow perforated sheet metal distributor 9 of approximately T-shaped cross-section is fitted in the upper end of the air passage and carries a flange 10 for deflecting the gas outwardly. The sheet metal outer casing 11 is adapted to support a chimney 12 and is formed at the lower end with an inwardly-projecting upturned flange for resiliently engaging the casting 4,
