521,735. Mixing-apparatus. HOBART MANUFACTURING CO. Oct. 25, 1938, No. 18824/39. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1937. Divided out of 521,691. [Class 86] In a food - mixing machine, comprising a pivotally mounted, over-hanging power unit for a beater which closely approaches the wall of the bowl, the beater is driven from a variablespeed motor through planetary gearing, the motor and gearing being mounted in the two parts of a casing which is pivotally mounted on a pedestal, a speed control lever and a locking lever being located between the two casing parts the meeting edges of which are furnished with a finishing strip. The motor is mounted in the upper part 40 of the two part casing, which is furnished with a tongue 30 projecting into the pedestal 12 to which it is pivoted at 32. The casing is locked in operative position by a member 101 operated through a link by a lever projecting from one side of the casing. The beater is driven by planetary gearing 125, 127, 128 from a worm gear 111 through gears 114, 115 all of which are carried by the lower part 31 of the casing.
