[Class 137] An air heater or cooler, particularly suitable for use in motor cars, comprises a heat exchanger and separate power driven means for causing air to flow through the exchanger in separate streams, at least one of which leaves the casing of the device without mixing with another of the streams. In Fig. 1, the heater is bolted to the dash board of a motor vehicle, and a fan 17 draws air through the outer sections of a heat exchanger 9 divided by partitions 23, and discharges it past control panels 27 hinged at 28. A blower 24 secured to the same axle 18 and the fan 26 draws air through the central part of the heat exchanger. and delivers it through a duct 22 leading to any desired point, such as to a wind screen heater. Flow and return pipes 13 lead to a source of hot (or cold) water, such'as the cooling system of the car. The flow of air may be reversed as shown in Fig. 4, the fan 47 drawing air through inlet openings 51, and discharging it past control shutters 43 and through the heat exchanger 9 into the vehicle. The blower 45 draws air through the central part of the heat exchanger in a direction opposed to that at the outer part, and delivers it through an outlet duct 52, there being no interference between the opposed air streams. In Figs. 5 and 7, the outlet duct from the blower 60 is a Y-shaped member 53, one branch of which directs air towards the feet of the driver, and' the other leads by a flexible tube 55 to a nozzle 56 adjacent the windscreen. The fan 59 blows air through the heater 62, its outlet being controlled by panels 63.
