Abstract
520,688. Forging-machines. OMES, Ltd., and MORA, G. Sept. 29, 1938, No. 28371. [Class 83 (iv)] The machine comprises two sets of upsetting- devices each including means for electrically heating a workpiece and hydraulic means for applying upsetting-pressure, and control means interlinking the two sets of pressure means and constructed to effect alternate operation thereof. The cylinders 3 for applying end pressure to the work-pieces 14 and the cylinders 16 for operating the movable jaws 11 of the vice electrodes are so connected with one another and with pipes 24, 25 leading from the valve 26 that when. upsetting is being effected in one set the workpieces are released in the other set for removal and insertion of new pieces. The valve is connected to a pump 29 and sump 30 by pipes 27, 28, and is operated by a pivoted lever 31 having a snap action and coupled by springs 42 to levers 41 pivoted to uprights 40 and connected to the cross-heads 5 by rods 52. One end of the lever is retained in its lower position by a latch 45 until the latter is pulled away by a rod 47 fastened to the lever 41. The axis of the machine is inclined at about 10 degrees to the vertical. Specification 511,295 is referred to.
