Abstract

520,636. Folding seats; leg-rests. TWIGG, R. E. Oct. 26, 1938, Nos. 30910/38 and 6921/39. [Class 52 (ii)] In a folding stool or leg rest of the kind comprising rectangular frames joined by flexible seating, the frames d, d' are of bent metal tubing formed at the bottom with rocker portions f and flat central portions e. The flexible seating, Fig. 1, is detachable and may be anchored to the pivoted frames by metal bars k having hooked ends m adapted to hook round the members d, d' as shown in Fig. 7. The length of the seating, and consequently the height of the stool may be adjusted by rolling the flexible seating on the bars k. The wedging action of the rolled seating against the top bars g retains the bars k in non-rotatable manner. Instead of shortening the seating by rolling it up, the seating may be provided with a series of parallel loops through which the bars k may be selectively passed. The seating may be provided with pockets for the reception of air or like cushions.
