Abstract

519,759. Jugs, cups &c. EVERTON, Ltd., E. T., and PADMORE, A. T. Nov. 3, 1938, Nos. 31906/38 and 3951/39. (Class.128] An earthenware jug, cup, basin, or like vessel is attached to a protective metal or other casing by means of a clip engaging the base flange of the vessel, the clip being secured by screw or other detachable means to the base of the casing or the plinth on which it, rests. In the construction of Fig. 1, a single metal clip 13 formed with claws 14 engages the base flange 12 of the vessel 10 and a depending screw 16 passes through the bottom 18 of the casing 17 and the plinth 20 and is engaged by a nut 47. A spring- pressed ball 24 housed in a recess in the plinth engages one of a series of apertures 19 in the casing bottom to prevent relative movement of the parts. The casing may alternatively be provided with an integral base part formed with a depending projection adapted to engage one of a series of openings in the plinth. In the construction shown in Figs. 4 'and 7 a modified two-part clip comprising discs 34, 35 pivoted together at 36 and furnished with claws 38, 39 is employed.
