519,596. Treatment of growing plants; manures. SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH, HONORARY ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR. Sept, 27, 1938, No. 28132. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1937. [Classes 6 (ii), and 111] A composition for treating plant cuttings comprising an inert dust carrier and a synthetic organic plant hormone contains from 10 to 1,000 parts of the hormone per million parts of dust. The hormone may consist of indolyl acetic acid, indolyl butyric acid, indolyl proprionic acid, alpha-naphthyl acetic acid, or mixtures or salts and esters thereof. The dust carrier may consist of talc, chalk, dolomite, clay, gypsum, silica, charcoal, starch, flour &c. or mixtures thereof. Physiologically active substances, such as those modifying the hydrogen ion concentration, and disinfectants may also be added. Specification 509,282 is referred to.
