Abstract

519,076. Switchboards. STANDARD TELEPHONES &. CABLES, Ltd., GRACE, - B. B., and WEBB, L. H. Sept. 14, 1938, No. 26842. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A cabinet for electrical equipment such as a telephone operator's switchboard and desk comprises a metal frame open on all sides and in which equipment such as jack-in relay assemblies, fuse panels &c. are slung, the sides being enclosed by removable wooden panels held in position only by grooves in the frame to provide accessibility. As shown, the frame comprises a top tray member 2 and a bottom rectangular frame 4 welded to uprights 1 bent as shown at 102, 103 to form flanges against which wooden panels are supported. The panels are placed against the flanges, slipped up slightly into the top tray portion and then allowed to drop on supports 5 inside the lower frame. The desk comprises side panels 12 welded to the front uprights and to a transverse member 43 also welded to the frame, the underside panel '20 of the desk being detachable. The desk top comprises two wooden panels, of which the horizontal one carries the dial and the sloping one the key frame, holes for the cords being provided. The jack field is secured in a vertical frame 7 above the desk. The side frames support channel members 24, 29 which carry other electrical equipment.
