Abstract

518,342. Plate &c. washing machines. VARLEY, E. V., and FRAULO, A. Sept. 9, 1938, No. 26400. [Class 138 (i)] Plate &c. washing apparatus comprises pairs of brushes mounted on parallel axes the brushes of each pair rotating in opposite directions and oppositely to the brushes on the parallel shaft, a guide being provided for the plate. As shown the brushes 5, 6 rotate oppositely to each other and to the brushes 7, 8 the meeting bristles of the brushes 5 and 7 travelling downwards. An inclined guide 31 is arranged in the plane between the brushes so as to move a plate placed between the brushes 5, 7 to the right where the movement of the brushes lifts the plate for removal. The brushes 5, 7 rotate at a different speed from the brushes 6, 8. The tank is divided into compartments by gapped screens 2 and are provided with overflows 14. In a modification the brush shafts are arranged in a horizontal plane and the plates are discharged on to a conveyer which carries them out of the tank.
