Abstract

571,356. Brushing-machines. SERVICE (ENGINEERS), Ltd., and JOHNSON, J. A. Sept. 30, 1943, No. 16035. [Class 19] A rotary brushing- machine particularly for brushing fired earthen ware comprises top and bottom rotating brushes between which the goods are brushed and the top brush carried in a floating manner under the action of a counter-balance &c. The lower stationary brush 17 is driven by a motor-driven spindle 15 which drives the pulley 26 of the upper floating brush 44 through the belt 28 and two pairs of vertically arranged guide pulleys 23, 24. The spindle 22 of the upper brush passes freely through its driving pulley 26 and is suspended by a rotary bearing 31 from a chain 32 passing over sprockets 34, 41 and carrying a counter-weight 43, the sprocket 34 having a limited adjustable amount of oscillation on its supporting spindle to permit the required amount of rise of the upper brush.
