Abstract

518,129. Diazo compounds. KALLE & CO. AKT.-GES. Aug. 15, 1938, No. 24046. Convention date, Aug. 20,1937. [Class 2 (iii)] [Also in Group XX] Sensitive layers for diazotype printing contain diazo sulphonates, the. nucleus carrying the diazo sulphonate group having as substituents at least two etherified oxy groups and having no amino or substituted amino group. In examples : (1) the sodium salt of 2:5-dimethoxybenzene-diazo-sulphonic acid (prepared by diazotizing 2:5-dimethoxy-1-aminobenzene, separation of the diazo compound as zinc chloride double salt, and double decomposition with sodium sulphite; (2) the sodium salt of 2-5- diethoxy-4-chlorobenzene-diazo-sulphonic acid (prepared by converting 2:5-diethoxy-1-aminobenzene into 2:5-diethoxy-1-chlorobenzene, nitrating, reducing the nitro group to an amino group and forming the diazo sulphonate as above) ; and (3) the sodium salt of 2:5-diethoxy- 4-methylbenzene-diazo-sulphonic acid (formed by treating 2:5-dioxytoluene with soda lye and diethyl sulphate, nitration, reduction, diazotization, and double decomposition with sodium sulphite) are used.
