Abstract
518,038. Removing bark. BURNOTTE, J., and GERARD, M. Sept. 13, 1938, No. 26695. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the' Acts. June 22, 1939] [Class 145 (ii)] A bark-stripping machine having rotary knives and a stop to limit the penetration of the knives is constructed with a U-shaped frame 20, Fig. 3, the knives 18 being mounted on a shaft 17 journalled in the free end of the U frame at the end of the apparatus opposite in the direction of movement. Shaft 17 is driven through a flexible shaft 19 and the frame is provided with handles 22, 23. The motor 1, Fig. 1, may be mounted by arms 4 and adjustable to rods 13 on a U-shaped frame formed by arms 7 and the shaft 5 carrying supporting rollers 6. The motor drives the knives 8 through a 'chain 12. An adjustable stop 16 regulates the depth of cut.
