[Classes 52 (iii) and 52 (v)] A self-balanced support for an electric lamp or other electric appliance comprises arm members and elbow joints which are in appearance perfectly symmetrical throughout, and constitute housings .for the electric conductors and for spiral springs situated within the elbow joints, so that the conductors cannot be detected at any point of the jointed arms. As applied to a desk stand.for an electric lamp, Figs. 1, 2, a heavy base 1 supports a disc member 2 by means of a ball-bearing pivot 3. On opposite sides of the disc member 2 are secured by a screw 15 a pair of tubular arms 6 connected to the disc member 2 by means of a pin 21 and spiral springs 10, 10<1>.
