517,141. Grinding tiles &c. BRITISH & INTERNATIONAL FLOORING CO., Ltd. (Goetzl, K. F.). July 19, 1938, No. 21434. [Class 60] A machine for grinding the edge faces of tiles and similar articles of plate form comprises an endless conveyer chain 1 guided over rollers 2, 3 and carrying the tiles, &c. 5 so that their edges pass across the faces of two grinding-rings 4, one at each side of the chain, and spaced apart at a distance equal to the final width of the tiles. The rings 4 are inclined to give the desired angle of the tile edges to the flat-face thereof, and also may be inclined so as to operate with parts on one side only of the axis of the ring. The tiles are held by claws 6 mounted on the pivot pins of the chain, and pressed against the ends of the tile by springs 7.
