Flat extended surfaces, surfacing.-In a roller machine for grinding flat surfaces on woodwork, the front roller 2 is arranged with its axis set obliquely to the direction of movement of the work 4 on the work-table 3 so that the work engages with the roller gradually. Following rollers may be arranged on axes which are parallel to that of the front roller, at right angles to the direction of movement of the work, inclined oppositely to the axis of the roller 2, or some in any of the directions set out above.
