Abstract

516,328. Shoots and hoppers. ELLIOTT BROS (LONDON), Ltd., and HARBEN, D. C. July 19, 1938, No. 21470. [Class 78 (i)] Apparatus for indicating the level of granular or like material contained in a hopper comprises a chain or other flexible member 1 secured at its upper end to a rod 6 which is urged upwardly by a spring 14 and is connected to a lever 9 secured to a rocking shaft 10 carrying a mercury switch 13. The chain is lowered by the weight or frictional drag of the material and the switch completes or breaks a circuit controlling an indicating or warning device. The circuit may include auxiliary apparatus for causing material to be fed to the hopper.
