Abstract
516,146. Ventilating gas-protection chambers. ATWILL & SON, Ltd., R., HOLFORD PROCESSES, Ltd., HOLFORD, J., and WHITE, H. F. June 21, 1938, No. 18470. [Class 137] A gas-proof cabinet for storing food or for housing animals or young children is ventilated by admitting air through filters 58 into lateral air ducts from which openings 54 admit the air into the interior, the air passing through openings 63 in a partition 30 to an extraction duct 32 and vent pipe 66. The filters 58 contain activated charcoal and asbestos-merino wool in pack form, and are in 'the form of a drawer 102 with a gauze bottom 98 so that they may be easily removed and replaced. Fig. 4 shows a cabinet with double glass doors 80 forming .an air-tight closure provided with a removable cot 79, an outlet 76 in the partition 30 being arranged opposite a main outlet leading -to the vent pipe 66. A similar cabinet may be used for accommodating animals. The structures are made of " Plymax " or like sheet material, and may have frieze bands of luminous paint to enable selection of a required food without other illumination.
