515,014. Packages. SALFISBERG, L. L. May 20, 1938, Nos. 15063 and 15064. Convention dates, Aug. 4, 1937, and Sept. 20, 1937. [Class 94 (i)] A package for powders, pastes, liquids and like fluid substances is made by folding a sheet 1 into tubular formation with a longitudinal seam 2 and adhering together the end flanges 5, 6 in areas circular at the corners. As shown, the circular areas are stuck about radii R<1>... R<4> centered upon the boundary of the area 2 and merging tangentially into the side edges 3, 4. The radii are equal to .not less than one fourth of the width of the pocket 8. The 'sheets may be of paper, cellulosic materials having a thermo-plastic coating, or rubber capable of being thermo-plastically sealed. Slots 9, 10 are provided for initiating a tearing operation to open the packet. A cover sheet, folded about the middle to provide two sides 11, 12, is adhered to the packet about the angle 13 and projects beyond the edges of the packet over the areas 14, 15, 16 to afford projection to the edges when the packets are stacked in a box. In a modification, two opposed sheets are adhered over an area adjacent to all the sides, the corners being circular. Two or more packets may be secured within a single cover sheet and arranged so that the corners may be torn off together, for the simultaneous discharge of the contents, which may be dissimilar commodities adapted to be united in use.
