Abstract
513,662. Aero-engine mountings. WESTLAND AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and PETTER, W. E. W. April 4, 1938, No. 10289. [Class 4] An aero-engine mounting includes a pair of bearers formed with integral lugs, angles, channels &c. to provide attachment points for stays. As shown, channel-section bearers b of extruded metal known under the Registered Trade Mark " Hiduminium," each having an _ integral wall extending outwards and upwards from one of the sides are machined so that the wall is reduced to form attachment lugs c, d for stays e, f connected together at h, and to the aircraft at g. Further stays j, k are connected together at m and to the aircraft at o. In the region of the lugs 'c, d the bearers are thickened or locally bushed by, e.g., steel to receive the crank-case feet. In a modification, the members f, k are omitted, the bearers being secured to the engine bulkhead. In a further modification, heat-treated cast aluminium alloy bearers of angle cross section are attached at their fore ends to a sloping bulkhead and are stayed at their rear ends by members by a strut secured to a vertical, wall of the bearer and a stay secured to a lug integral with the bearer.
