513,185. Coating fibrous sheets. ROGERS, F. H. (Plastergon Wall Board-Co.)., May 30, 1938, No. 16109. Drawings to Specification. [Class 95] [Also in Group VIII] Fibrous sheets, e.g., wall board, are coated by applying to the material while in a moist state a water dispersion of coating material containing coating solids and a volatile solvent therefor, then immediately subjecting the coated sheet to a drying treatment in a humid atmosphere so as to remove sufficient of the solvent to bring the coating quickly past the tacky stage and then further drying. The material may be heated before application of the coating. Both faces may be coated by provision of a second unit. A matt surface is obtained which is suitable as a primer coat for a water paint. Water dispersions containing natural or synthetic resin, cellulose esters, termite and fungus resisting materials may be employed.
