Abstract

512,450. Compensating photographic exposure; colour filters. BLOCH, O. F. March 4, 1938, No. 6888. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (i)] The unevenness of illumination of the image plane produced by wide angle or other lenses is compensated by a graduated filter corresponding in density to the illumination and placed directly in front of the sensitive surface. The filter may be produced by casting a solution of a light absorbing medium or a dispersion such as Indian ink or colloidal metal or finely divided metal salts, with, if desired. colour-filter dyes, in a setting medium such as gelatin or collodion in a shallow mould of conical, pyramidal, paraboloidal, spherical or other form. In an example the preparation of a coned gelatin filter containing Nigrosine HS. Toliudine Blue (Agfa), and Indian ink is described. Reference is made to a known process of correcting copying lens deficiencies by covering the copy material with filter comprising a photographically-produced silver image of varying density.
